"resistance" - ar-pharazôn
silwritersguild challenge #16: adventure/limits

On the whole, he would rather have stayed at home.

His idea of adventure, until now, consisted of a few small, near-insignificant events; a simple bloodless coup, an unfortunate brush with a double-crossing near-deity, quiet marriage and the small matter of having his wife’s ex-fiancé quietly dispatched with the minimum of fuss, as well as dealing with those Elf-loving agitators.

He doesn’t think that immortality is too much to ask and so he travels to the West (heart heavy, sinking like a stone or like his drowned wife) and meets resistance (for the first time in all his daring days).

I do like the reference to a bloodless coup. I always thought that his initial success in Numenor was down to bribery more than anything else.

And...poor Elentir. Sucks to be you.
