"diverging" - salgant
silwritersguild challenge #9: hero/anti-hero

He thinks himself a laughing-stock (and because he thinks it, it has become so). He does not have long, slender fingers, yet when he plays the harp, he is deft and almost graceful. He is not a warrior, he is not strong and, usually, he is afraid (music can only transform him so much). He is a fountain of snide remarks and cruel asides and, although he never meant to be a traitor (anymore than he meant to be Gondolin’s court jester), the arrival of the Prince sets him on a splintering course, diverging from the golden great and good.
